MB 229.3 approval for engine oils
The engine oil specification MB 229.3 is issued by Mercedes-Benz for gasoline engines and diesel vehicles without diesel particulate filters. Applicable models are:
- Gasoline engines: M 122, 272, 273, 113, 132, 266, 270, 271, 274 (except 213053), 276, 278, 281, 200.71 Citan
- Diesel engines without particulate filter: OM 640, 642, 646, 651
The specification MB 229.3 applies to the viscosity classes SAE 0w30, SAE 5w30, SAE 0w40, SAE 5w40, SAE 10w40 and SAE 5w50. The change intervals for engine oils with the release MB 229.3 can be found in your service booklet.
