ADDINOL guideway oils for highest workpiece quality

ADDINOL Guideway oils XG for the lubrication of horizontal and vertical guideways and guideways in machine tools convince by carefully selected high-grade base oils and optimally adjusted zinc-free additives. They are characterized by their pronounced demulsifying capacity. If emulsion components penetrate into it, they reliably separate the water content and their lubricating effect remains undiminished. They are also designed to significantly reduce frictional forces when starting up the systems and effectively prevent stick-slip phenomena. ADDINOL Guideway oils XG reliably protect against wear and are well compatible with ADDINOL coolants.

Properties of guideway oils

Guideway oils have the particular task of avoiding chatter marks on the surfaces of the workpieces. The lubricant film must therefore remain stable even at slow feed rates and high surface pressures. Wear protection and jerk-free movements are thus guaranteed. In addition, the stick-slip effect is prevented.

It is also very important for guideway oils to separate well from cooling lubricants and to not form an emulsion. Only in this way can the lubricating properties be maintained permanently.

General properties of guideway oils are:

  • excellent demulsifying behaviour
  • extremely resistant to water-miscible cooling lubricants
  • excellent corrosion protection
  • excellent stick-slip behaviour reduces frictional forces during start-up and ensures high workpiece quality
  • increased load carrying capacity prevents wear on guideways
  • very good aging resistance
  • safely meet the requirements for hydraulic oils (HLP) according to DIN 51524-2 and for gear oils (CLP) according to DIN 51517-3 such as CLP 220

Guideway oil composition

Guideway oils are circulating oils which are based on high-quality mineral oil raffinates. To achieve the desired oil properties, additives to improve oxidation and corrosion protection, AW and EP additives, surface-active substances and, if necessary, adhesion improvers are added.

DIN 51502 - CGLP

DIN 51502 describes requirements for guideway oils in hydrodynamic systems and rolling element systems (linear guidance). Usually the material pairings used are grey cast iron/cast iron, grey cast iron/plastic, grey cast iron/steel, steel/plastic. The guideway oils are listed under the abbreviation CGLP. The additives of CGLP oils guarantee a high lubricating film stability, a low friction coefficient, a high protection against wear, the prevention of corrosion and black spots on the metal surface as well as an excellent demulsifying capacity of cooling lubricants.

Viscosity of guideway oils

ADDINOL offers guideway oils of the viscosity classes ISO VG 32, 68 and 220: while ISO VG classes 32 and 68 have a rather low viscosity, guideway oils of ISO VG class 220 have a higher viscosity. Depending on the viscosity class, the guideway oil is intended for different purposes. Guideway oil of ISO VG class 32 is particularly suitable for horizontal guideways with low to medium loads. Horizontal guideways with higher loads are lubricated by CGLP 68, HG 68 or G 68 guideway oils. Inclined and vertical guides, on the other hand, run with lubricants such as CGLP 220, HG 220 or G 220.
