Longlife oil from ADDINOL - What is longlife oil?

Longlife oils are fuel-efficient oils that have been specially designed for cars with a so-called longlife service. The engines are designed for extended oil change intervals. The oil is particularly resistant to ageing and can be operated for longer than standard oil change intervals (e.g. 15,000 kilometres) when driving gently.

The oil change intervals are calculated by a board computer. The computer measures various parameters and uses them to calculate the remaining time or kilometres until the next oil change. The measurements include fuel consumption, oil level, oil temperature, speed, acceleration/braking behaviour and engine speed.

If you are looking for longlife oil for a certain brand, you will find suitable engine oils for Audi, BMW and VW.

When should longlife oil be changed?

The oil change intervals for longlife oil normally range between 30,000 and 60,000 kilometres, depending on the vehicle type. The exact exchange periods are calculated by a board computer. If an oil change is due, the driver is informed accordingly with a message on the console. As a rule, long-distance drivers can expect longer oil change intervals than short-distance drivers in urban traffic. Then the oil wears out faster.

Longlife oils can also be filled into some cars without longlife service, depending on the approval. This often doubles the oil service life. If the normal engine oil is designed for one year or 15,000 kilometres, the longlife oil can remain in the engine for two years or 30,000 kilometres, for example. Why don't you check it out in the Oilfinder for your car?

Longlife oil or normal engine oil? What's the difference?

The advantages of longlife oil are obvious. Instead of rigid oil change intervals, the oil change intervals can be significantly extended with a moderate driving style. This means less costs for oil changes in the workshop and longer oil operating times. Although the purchase costs for longlife oil are higher than for normal engine oil, this investment usually pays off through the longer service life.

Longlife oil must never be mixed with conventional multigrade oils. In this case, the long replacement intervals cannot be observed. The board computer would have to be reprogrammed to fixed change intervals.

In addition, it should be noted that not every car has a release for the use of longlife oils. Therefore, only fill your vehicle with longlife oil if the manufacturer allows it. Otherwise, the engine may suffer long-term damage if it is not designed for these oils.
