Opel OV0401547 approval

The Opel OV0401547 specification replaces the originally planned dexos 2 gen2 release for modern Opel models. Following the sale of Opel by GM to the PSA Group, new specifications are being introduced for the vehicles. The engine oils are suitable for both petrol and diesel vehicles. The Opel OV0401547 specification covers several viscosity classes and different HTHS requirements: 0W-xx / 5W-xx / xxW-20, 30 and 40 at HTHS of >2.6 via >2.9 to >3.5. However, oils in viscosity class 0W20 are most common. Modern engines, which have been optimised in terms of emission reduction and fuel economy, are designed for this thinner oil. This typically applies to models built from 2018 onwards. The change interval for the Opel OV0401547 standard is 30,000 kilometres or one year.

Important note:

The approval OV0401547 has been further developed and is no longer used. The new specifications are:

  • Opel OV0401547-D30 (Oils with SAE Xw30 for diesel engines)
  • Opel OV0401547-G30 (Oils with SAE Xw30 for gasoline engines)
  • Opel OV0401547-A20 (Oils with SAE Xw20 for gasoline or diesel engines)
