What is the dexos 1 Gen2 approval for engine oils?

The engine oil specification dexos 1 Gen2 is issued by General Motors. It therefore also applies to all Opel models, as GM was the parent company for Opel until August 2017. Since then, however, the vehicles have not yet been converted to new release classes of the PSA group. The change intervals of the dexos 1 Gen2 standard vary depending on the vehicle type and cannot be generalized. Please refer to the manual of your car. The standard applies exclusively to gasoline engines with direct injection and turbo. It is a further development of the dexos 1 release. dexos 1's first generation release led in some cases to engine damage due to premature ignition of the fuel in the engine compartment. This problem has been solved by the new formulation of the engine oils. Improved wear protection and higher engine cleanliness are the result. Only SAE 5w30 is approved as viscosity class for dexos 1 Gen2. The dexos 1 Gen2 approval also applies to models of the GM brands Chevrolet, Buick, Vauxhall, Cadillac, Corvette, Hummer, Pontiac, etc. Typical Opel models with dexos 1 Gen2 approval are Astra K, Insignia, Crossland X and Grandland X. The oil is suitable for cars with LSPI problems.
