ADDINOL engine oils meet the new API SQ and ILSAC GF-7 approvals
With the introduction of the new API SQ standard and ILSAC GF-7 specification, the engine oil industry is setting new global standards for engine protection, fuel efficiency and environmental compatibility. These standards take into account the increasing demands of modern drive technologies – from downsizing and turbo engines to hybrid vehicles.
ADDINOL responded to this development at an early stage and has adapted several products in its successful engine oil series accordingly: Economic 016, Economic 020, Economic 0520 and Premium 0530 DX1. The new formulations meet the requirements of the current American Petroleum Institute approval. ADDINOL is thus underlining its technological leadership and offering lubricants that are optimally tailored to the engines of the future.

Focus on efficiency and sustainability
The new API SQ specification prioritises optimised fuel efficiency, improved LSPI protection, higher cleaning performance and reduced ash formation. ADDINOL engine oils thus contribute to more efficient and longer-lasting engine operation. A central goal of API SQ is to increase fuel efficiency by up to 16% compared to the previous API SP standard. ADDINOL engine oils stand for maximum performance, first-class wear protection and maximum fuel efficiency – even under extreme operating conditions. They reduce LSPI (low-speed pre-ignition) risks, keep engines clean and ensure stable lubricating films even at high temperatures and long oil change intervals. At the same time, they are optimally matched to modern exhaust aftertreatment systems and thus make an important contribution to reducing emissions.
At the end of March 2025, the corresponding ILSAC GF-7 specification came into the market, which focuses on efficiency and sustainability. ADDINOL engine oils also meet these requirements – with up to 2% additional fuel savings, improved timing chain protection, longer ageing stability, increased LSPI safety and full compatibility with hybrid and start-stop systems.

ADDINOL Eco Gas 4000 XD receives MAN approval M3271-5
The high-performance gas engine oil ADDINOL Eco Gas 4000 XD has successfully received the approval from MAN Truck & Bus SE for the specification M3271-5, including steel pistons. This approval applies specifically to the new generation of MAN E3872 LE gas engines equipped with steel pistons, which are currently being launched on the market by the MAN head quarter in Nuremberg. Thus, MAN confirms that Eco Gas 4000 XD is a high-performance lubricant that is ideally suited to the extreme thermal and mechanical demands of modern high-performance engines.
A unique selling point: ADDINOL and one competitor are currently the only suppliers on the official MAN approval list for this engine generation.
The approval for Eco Gas 4000 XD according to MAN M3271-5, including steel pistons, is a significant milestone for ADDINOL. It confirms that the oil provides reliable protection and maintains its performance over the long term, even under the extreme loads of modern high-performance engines with steel pistons. The listing of our product on the exclusive MAN approval list underlines ADDINOL’s technological lead and the trust that OEMs such as MAN place in our development expertise.

The new MAN E3872 LE is specially designed for operation with purified biogas – obtained from biogas plants, free of disruptive components and designed for combustion in gas engines. With the new MAN E3872 LE engine generation, MAN Energy Solutions is launching a technical advancement that is specifically designed for maximum efficiency, durability and thermal resilience. At the heart of the engine is the use of steel pistons – a significant innovation compared to conventional aluminium pistons, which are still common in gas engines.
However, the use of steel pistons places new demands on engine oil: Higher temperatures and pressures lead to greater thermal stress on the oil, which means that only products with particularly high oxidation and nitration stability can survive – such as ADDINOL Eco Gas 4000 XD.
ADDINOL Eco Gas 4000 XD has been specially developed for highly efficient stationary gas engines with increased requirements for oxidation stability, nitration resistance and deposit control. The combination of state-of-the-art additive technology and carefully selected base oils ensures extended oil change intervals and reliable protection – even in the most demanding applications.
High-performance engine oil with Stellantis specification
With the new ADDINOL Superior 0530 ST, ADDINOL expands its product range with a high-performance low-SAPS engine oil that is based on novel additive technology and high-quality synthetic base oils. The high-performance engine oil was developed for versatile use in petrol and diesel engines and is specifically tailored to the requirements of the Stellantis specification FPW9.55535/03. It also fulfils the specifications PSA B71 2290 and PSA B71 2297.
ADDINOL Superior 0530 ST offers excellent wear protection and at the same time helps to minimise the formation of soot and deposits − a combination that significantly extends the service life of modern engines. Engine wear often occurs in the starting phase and can be exacerbated by stop-and-go traffic, frequent acceleration and deceleration as well as prolonged idling, e.g. in city traffic. Thanks to special additives, the oil adheres like a magnet to critical engine components and provides a long-lasting protective film. Furthermore, pre-ignition at low engine speeds (LSPI) is prevented. The engine oil is ideal for numerous vehicle models from the Stellantis Group (PSA, Opel, Vauxhall), but also for models from other well-known manufacturers such as Mercedes Benz, GM and Fiat.

The oil is available in 5 litre cans, 20 litre cans, drums and 1000 litre containers.
