New ACEA approvals E8/E11

Since 1996, the Association of European Engine Manufacturers (Association des Constructeurs Europeens de l’Automobile) has defined the minimum requirements for engine oils for use in passenger cars and commercial vehicles with the ACEA oil sequences. The last ACEA update was issued in 2016. Due to the rapid development of engine technologies and increasingly stringent emission standards, an updated ACEA 2021 oil sequence will be published. This primarily affects the E sequences, which describe the requirements for diesel engines for trucks. In the course of 2021, new F sequences for commercial vehicles will also be announced.

ACEA E6 will be replaced by ACEA E8 and ACEA E9 by ACEA E11. In 2022, the previous approvals ACEA E6 and ACEA E9 will finally expire. The new approvals stand for increased fuel efficiency, a reduction in exhaust emissions and a longer engine life.

Characteristics ACEA E8:

  • UHPD (Ultra High Performance Diesel)
  • Low SAPS
  • DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter)
  • HTHS 3,5 mPa*s

Characteristics ACEA E11:

  • SHPD (Super High Performance Diesel)
  • Mid SAPS
  • DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter)
  • HTHS 3,5 mPa*s
