ADDINOL engine oils meet the new API SQ and ILSAC GF-7 approvals

With the introduction of the new API SQ standard and ILSAC GF-7 specification, the engine oil industry is setting new global standards for engine protection, fuel efficiency and environmental compatibility. These standards take into account the increasing demands of modern drive technologies – from downsizing and turbo engines to hybrid vehicles.

ADDINOL responded to this development at an early stage and has adapted several products in its successful engine oil series accordingly: Economic 016, Economic 020, Economic 0520 and Premium 0530 DX1. The new formulations meet the requirements of the current American Petroleum Institute approval. ADDINOL is thus underlining its technological leadership and offering lubricants that are optimally tailored to the engines of the future.

Focus on efficiency and sustainability

The new API SQ specification prioritises optimised fuel efficiency, improved LSPI protection, higher cleaning performance and reduced ash formation. ADDINOL engine oils thus contribute to more efficient and longer-lasting engine operation. A central goal of API SQ is to increase fuel efficiency by up to 16% compared to the previous API SP standard. ADDINOL engine oils stand for maximum performance, first-class wear protection and maximum fuel efficiency – even under extreme operating conditions. They reduce LSPI (low-speed pre-ignition) risks, keep engines clean and ensure stable lubricating films even at high temperatures and long oil change intervals. At the same time, they are optimally matched to modern exhaust aftertreatment systems and thus make an important contribution to reducing emissions.

At the end of March 2025, the corresponding ILSAC GF-7 specification came into the market, which focuses on efficiency and sustainability. ADDINOL engine oils also meet these requirements – with up to 2% additional fuel savings, improved timing chain protection, longer ageing stability, increased LSPI safety and full compatibility with hybrid and start-stop systems.
